About SNAI

Under the strong support of former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, the Shanghai National Accounting Institute (SNAI) was established in September 2000 as a public service institution affiliated to the Ministry of Finance of China (MOF). Under the leadership of the SNAI Party Committee, SNAI President is accountable for the operation of the institute and the finance minister of Ministry of Finance is assigned as the chairman of SNAI’s board of directors

In 2011, SNAI is approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as the unit for granting Master's Degree in Professional Accounting and Auditing. In the same year, the EMBA program in cooperation with Arizona State University was ranked 20th globally by the Financial Times. In 2013, EMBA and EMPAcc programs obtained the accreditation from the Ministry of Education. In 2014, SNAI was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to offer another degree program-Master of Taxation. As a national-level continuing education base, SNAI also provides distance education for accounting practitioners at the grassroots level and managerial talents in western China.

Looking ahead, with an aim to build itself into an internationally recognized accounting institute and an open development strategy for mobilizing quality educational resources around the globe, SNAI will endeavor to become a cradle for bringing up financial and accounting leaders, an important think tank for financial and accounting policymaking and businesses’ financial operation, an important source for gathering and disseminating accounting information and a vital platform for international exchange in the fields of finance and accounting, and by doing so, to better serve the development of Chinese economy and society as well as the capacity building of developing countries in the fields of finance and economics.
